Will you help the families of Christian martyrs today?

‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16)

EVERY DAY TERRORISTS AND MILITANTS ARE INFLICTING UNTOLD PAIN IN THE LIVES OF FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS LIKE ROSE IN NIGERIA. YOUR GIFT OF £30 CAN HELP THEM REBUILD THEIR BROKEN LIVES.

Did you know that our partners in Nigeria have records that show that from 2001 to 2021, 33,843 Christians have been killed in religious riots, or by Boko Haram or through Fulani militants?

In 2021 alone, their figures show that 5,396 people died. An average of 15 brothers or sisters per day. (Source: Loud Silence – A Situation Report by Stefanos Foundation.)

ROSE’S HUSBAND, PASTOR MATTHEW TAGWI, IS ONE OF THEM

In January 2020, Matthew went to the Nsah village in Plateau state to begin his ministry. His pregnant wife Rose and their two daughters, Esther and Joy, went with him.

Three months later, on April 6, Rose went to Kwall for her monthly antenatal check-up. But little did she know then that she was saying goodbye to her husband for the last time.

On that day a group of Fulani militants attacked the Nsah village. They went to Matthew’s house, called him to come out and shot him dead in the front garden.

From being a happy mother and wife Rose became a widow. And she had to give birth to her third daughter worried about what the future might hold for her young family.

But thanks to the generosity of caring friends like you and the commitment of our partners in Nigeria Rose received practical help and pastoral care during some of the hardest days of her life.

Right now, more Christians like Rose in Nigeria are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones in the hands of religious militants.

There are few words that can adequately describe their pain and suffering, they are heartbroken and in desperate need of practical help and God’s healing touch.

WILL YOU GIVE £30, OR EVEN £50 TODAY TO HELP A PERSECUTED CHRISTIAN LIKE ROSE TO REBUILD HER LIFE AND EXPERIENCE GOD’S HEALING LOVE?

Out Of These Ashes Logo

The trauma and challenges facing Christians like Rose living in villages that are constantly under threat often takes their toll on them and their loved ones.

Scared and exhausted mothers like Rose and their children frequently flee to the bushes at night or sleep in a nearby safer village. Then in the morning they must walk back to their houses again.

Responding to the martyrdom of her husband Rose said: “Evil men think that killing a pastor will stop the gospel. Nothing will stop the gospel of Christ. My prayer is that Matthew’s killers will get to know the Jesus I know. I do forgive them and pray that the Lord will save their souls.”

Right now, more persecuted Christians like Rose, whose loved ones have been brutally killed by Islamic militants, need our urgent help.

In Nigeria and elsewhere, Christians are often victims of such violent persecution. And those who survive struggle alone until our local ministry partners reach out to help them.

WILL YOU JOIN FORCES WITH US TO PROVIDE PRACTICAL HELP AND PASTORAL CARE FOR CHRISTIANS LIKE ROSE BY GIVING £30, £50 OR EVEN £100 TODAY?

Pray

Almighty God

I pray today for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have been killed simply because they love you.

Heavenly Father, thank you for welcoming into your arms all Christian martyrs who have given their lives because they refused to stop sharing the gospel and living out their faith by loving you.

Lord, heal the hearts and minds of those who have lost loved ones because of persecution and restore them to full physical, mental and spiritual health.

And for those who persecute my brothers and sisters in Christ, I pray that their hearts will be touched by the wonderful faith of those they attack. I pray that their hearts of ice will be turned into warm wells of living water and that they will repent of their ways and turn to follow you as their Lord and Master.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,

Amen.
