Prisoner Profiles

Prisoners of Faith

A pastor is in a prison cell tonight because he refused to deny Christ. He has been there for months. His wife does not know when he will come home. His children ask after him at bedtime. Even if he could sign one piece of paper to walk free tomorrow, he will not.

He is one of hundreds of Christians Voice of Persecuted Christians is tracking right now. Men and women imprisoned because they worship Jesus. They cannot speak to you directly. Voice of Persecuted Christians exists to carry their story to the UK church. To ask you, on their behalf, to remember them.

Read. Pray. Write to one of them. They are your brothers and sisters.

Pray. Write. Remember.

As you read about prisoners of faith, pray for them and for the families waiting for them. Many supporters also write letters. A short note in an envelope is a real reminder to a brother or sister in prison that they are not alone.

Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Hebrews 13:3

Why this matters

When Christians imprisoned for their faith are forgotten, families suffer in silence and pressure builds behind closed doors. These are not distant headlines. They are part of the church’s present suffering.

Many of these cases involve serious human rights concerns. But for the church, this is more than a legal issue. These are brothers and sisters suffering because they belong to Christ.

As you read, pray for the prisoners, remember the families and where appropriate, consider writing a letter to encourage someone who is standing firm.

What happens to families when a believer is imprisoned?

When a believer is imprisoned, the suffering does not stop at the prison door. Families often lose income, protection, stability and contact with their loved one. Children may carry fear and confusion for years. Remembering prisoners of faith also means remembering those who wait for them.

A fellowship that holds across prison walls

The prisoners of faith featured on this page belong to the same body of Christ you belong to. The same Christ we worship on Sunday is worshipped in the cell where a brother or sister is held for their faith. They pray for us. We pray for them. Neither distance nor prison walls break the bond we share in Christ.

Stand with your brothers and sisters

Your gift brings practical and pastoral support to Christian prisoners and the families affected by imprisonment. Through trusted partners, Voice of Persecuted Christians helps care for those suffering the effects of Christian persecution. Sustaining believers in prison. Reminding them they are not alone.

Voice of Persecuted Christians was founded to be the voice of the persecuted church to the UK church. When we ask you to give, we are asking on behalf of brothers and sisters who cannot speak to you directly.

Your donation is one way the body of Christ shares burdens in love.

Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Give today. The brother in the cell does not know your name. Christ does. Your gift is how the body of Christ remembers its own.
