BIKE PILGRIMS REACH MID-POINT

Bound for Truro Conference on Christian persecution

Bike Pilgrimage

Release International’s Bike Pilgrims have reached the midpoint of their epic cycle ride to support persecuted Christians.

Retired vicar Robert De Berry is leading the pack of dedicated cyclists from one of the most Easterly points in England to the furthest West you can travel before plunging into the sea.

RDB

So far, he’s ridden from North Foreland Point Lighthouse in Kent to Land’s End. Now he’s heading home.

Throughout his journey, Robert is speaking in local churches to encourage prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world.

On June 6 he will be attending a major supporter conference: A global persecution of Christians: Where do we go from here? (For more details of the conference, see below).

Sponsorship

The Bike Pilgrims aim to raise £100,000 through sponsorship for the work of CSW and Release International.

Following the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday, Robert and his team head back from Penzance. This time, they are taking a southerly coastal route that will bring them back to where they started at North Foreland Point. They’re due to return on June the 25th.

Robert de Berry’s speaking engagements sound almost as gruelling as the cycling. He, or others on the team, will be talking in churches in Truro, St Austell, Plymouth, Wembury, Exeter, Axminster, Seaton, Dorchester, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsdown, Southbourne, Findon, Thakeham, Woodingdean, Peacehaven, Eastbourne, Hastings, Ashford, Folkestone – and finally Margate.

Despite the punishing agenda, the watchword is ‘With God, nothing will be impossible’ (Lk 1:37).

TRURO CONFERENCE

A global persecution of Christians: Where do we go from here? takes place at Truro Methodist Church from 10am to 4pm on June 6.

The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Fiona Bruce MP, will be bringing a special message, along with Baroness Cox. Other guest speakers include Paul Robinson, CEO and Release International Volunteering Ambassador Revd Imtiaz Ashraf.

The conference is free, with donations for expenses and lunch. To register your interest in attending, which will help us with providing refreshments, please contact lhayes@releaseinternational.org or message Laura on 07861 658840.

You’re on the right site, even though our name has changed

We’ve refreshed our brand and now go by Voice of Persecuted Christians. Our mission remains the same: to support people who face persecution for their faith. This site, voiceopc.org, is the official home for news, stories, and ways to help.

If you’re looking for resources from the former website, you’ve found the right place – everything you need is still here, just under our new name.
