‘Pastors under Pressure’ is the theme Release International has chosen to help Christians in the UK mark this year’s International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.
IDOP, as it is known, is a well-established date on the calendar that serves to encourage us to pray for those Christians around the world who suffer persecution for Christ and the gospel.
Will your church be involved this year? Now is the time to start planning!
Release International will be producing video resources, along with testimonies and material to inform and equip you and your church.
This year’s IDOP date is Sunday, November 2, but you can choose any Sunday in November that best fits your church’s programme in order to remember – and to pray for – persecuted Christians.
Later in November we will be welcoming to the UK former prisoner-of-faith Andrew Brunson. Andrew and his wife Norine served as missionaries in Turkey. In 2016 he was arrested and falsely accused of terrorism. Today Andrew and Norine lead a ministry called WaveStarters, which seeks to prepare Christians to stand firm in their faith in difficult times. He will be speaking at a series of special events in the UK. Watch out for details of dates and venues!
- Pray that all the resources Release International produces will be well used by churches to mark this year’s IDOP.
- Pray for all the arrangements for Andrew Brunson’s visit to the UK this autumn, and that what he shares will have a real impact on Christians in the UK.
