‘Shezhad’* had a dream where Jesus appeared to him as he stood beside a fast-flowing river. Another man was encouraging him to jump in when Jesus approached, put a hand on his shoulder and said ‘follow Me’.
Shezhad was brought up under the strict teachings of Islam, was an avid scholar, and as a young man was a passionate preacher, seeking to live in a radical but peaceful way, but at the same time feeling an emptiness inside.
A Christian friend shared the gospel with him, and he initially rejected it. As time passed, he looked at the Bible, and reading the Gospel of Luke he was transfixed by the beautiful words and love he found within it.
Confused, he prayed for guidance and during this time God spoke to him in the dream.
When he became a Christian he left everything behind including his family, he knows that if they found out about his conversion, there would be serious consequences.
