IRAN CRISIS – HOW WILL IT IMPACT THE CHURCH?

Tensions are mounting in Iran, where vast numbers have been gathering in protest at the killing of an Iranian general by a US drone strike.

Iran has retaliated with missile attacks on US airbases in Iraq, including Erbil in Kurdistan. Fifty people were trampled to death at the funeral of commander Qasem Soleimani, which had to be postponed to save lives.

Release has just named Iran as a country of growing concern in its latest Global Persecution report. Release partners say thousands of Christians have fled the country, as Iran takes steps to eliminate the Persian-speaking church.

James Maidment-Fullard of Trans World Radio asked Andrew Boyd of Release about the impact the threat of conflict will have on Christians in the Iran, who are already under pressure.
