Theresa May in China – ‘Use your influence, Mrs May, to press for religious freedom’

Prime Minister Theresa May is in China for a three-day visit to bolster trade. But concern is growing about the rising persecution of Christians in China. In January, officials dynamited a 50,000-strong megachurch and have fined Christian leaders elsewhere for taking up offerings, branding them members of an evil-cult.

China is tightening its controls on unregistered congregations from February, in a move to prevent independent churches.

Premier Radio asked Release International’s Andrew Boyd what Theresa May should do to persuade China to increase religious freedom:
