Pastors paying the ultimate price

‘Annette’ (not her real name) was living in Burkina Faso with her husband, a church youth leader, and their three-year-old son. She was pregnant with their second child when their village was attacked by armed Islamic militants.

Surrounding the church, they made everyone sit on the ground, and the men and women were then separated.

Then ‘Annette’ heard gunfire, the pastor, his son, her husband and three others had been killed. Fleeing to a town where her husband had family members, she gave birth to their daughter nine days later. However, his family were Muslim, and blamed his death on her Christian faith. They tried pressuring her into marrying another family member, according with Islamic tradition, but she refused and fled again.

Our partners run a project helping ‘Annette’ and others to rebuild their lives, helping them to start making a living.

‘Annette’ told us: ‘Give greetings to the brothers and sisters [in the UK]. Now I see that I am not alone.’

You’re on the right site, even though our name has changed

We’ve refreshed our brand and now go by Voice of Persecuted Christians. Our mission remains the same: to support people who face persecution for their faith. This site, voiceopc.org, is the official home for news, stories, and ways to help.

If you’re looking for resources from the former website, you’ve found the right place – everything you need is still here, just under our new name.
