‘Ibrahim’ is a Muslim background believer in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Brought up as a strict Muslim, he became curious about Christianity in his early 20’s when some Christians who were renting an apartment to his family shattered his previous prejudices by showing him kindness and warmth. While visiting Turkey with some friends who invited him to church, and following a vision of a ‘man of radiant light’, he ended up giving his life to Christ.
Then his problems began. Legal issues concerning his residency in Turkey, lack of finances which went missing after they had been sent to him, and a failed attempt to reach Europe ended with him being returned to Turkey where he was beaten and detained. On top of all this, after discovering he had become a Christian his mother cursed him and excluded him from the family, and even tried to get a hitman to kill him. This left him physically and emotionally crushed.
Our partners in Kurdistan were able to help him, as they do many others who have fled across the region, and he was given refuge in one of their safe houses. Today, Ibrahim faithfully serves in the church, surrounded by a spiritual family that supports him.
Please pray for Ibrahim, for his family and for the church he serves. May God bless them greatly, and may God open the eyes of those who have persecuted him so they too may experience the ‘man of radiant light’.
