How do you carry on after losing your wife, parents and all but one of your children in one brutal attack on your community?
Hard for us to imagine in the UK, yet all too common in northern and central Nigeria where for two decades Islamist terrorists and more recently militant Fulani herdsmen have terrorised Christians.
Luka, a Christian from Kaduna state in northwest Nigeria, has to keep going for the sake of his one surviving child, Magnificent, who lives with the physical trauma of being shot in the mouth.
Although Magnificent survived, he lives with the consequences of this violence.
Luka struggles with his feelings towards those responsible for this atrocity.
‘The pain is there, but as a Christian I turn to Scripture which helps me overcome these thoughts. I tell myself: “May the will of God be done over their lives.”’
Luka asks for prayer that God would intervene: ‘Pray about what we face in Nigeria – and for me and my surviving son. Pray for God’s provision as we try to take care of our loved ones, and that God would restore peace in Nigeria.’
