How do you take the gospel to a country such as Afghanistan, dominated by a militant Islamist group? One answer is by radio.
A partner in the region, said, ’Although it was bad, the previous Government gave people a chance. Some were able to declare their faith. There were around 10,000 believers who could declare themselves as Christians. When the Taliban came they had to flee Afghanistan [because they were known by the authorities].’
Some of those who left now work with our partners gospel ministry.
Our partner produces Christian radio programmes as they find this is the best way to share the gospel, especially in rural areas where people don’t have TV or smart phones.
Response to the radio programmes has been increasing, particularly since the Taliban regained control. People face so many difficulties and are looking for hope, and since 2021 the radio programmes have averaged around 500 responses a month.
Our partner says ‘People have tried everything in Afghanistan, but nothing has ever worked. Only the gospel is going to work. That is the only solution. When I see and hear people accepting Jesus Christ that gives me both courage and encouragement.’
